Meet Rama, our #WCW. She didn’t get the chance to be a woman. She didn’t get the chance to experience many things: her 11th birthday, her first day of high school, her college graduation, her first kiss, her first love. She did love swinging in the backyard under the lemon and orange trees. She loved to dance. And she loved her uncle, Tarek. Rama was killed by sniper fire on her way to Damascus, Syria with her family. Her friends miss her. There are so many girls and boys like Rama, with a life that ended far too soon.
Over 1.1 million Syrian children have registered as refugees with UNHCR, with 75% of them under the age of 12. Children represent 52% of the total Syrian refugee population, which now exceeds 2.2 million.
