Sayed Ali* is a 27 year old refugee from Karachi, Pakistan. His journey is much like those of the thousands of refugees before him - from Turkey he crossed the Mediterranean to Greece, walking the long journey through Europe until he reached Germany in September of 2015.
Ali was in the middle of his studies when he had to flee Pakistan, only a handful of courses away from finishing a certification in hospitality and hotel services studies. He is anxious to continue his studies and is determined to continue to achieve his goals even while displaced.
“I want to become a successful person in my life and peaceful for other people. I want to educate myself. Because I am strong, I can also make things hopeful… I was hopeful and I struggled and my hope became my present,” he said. “I learnt how to dance in storms.”
