People just like you helped to pass a law in Ecuador that enabled a refugee who had been selling sweets out a window to start a bakery that now has 20 employees.
Many of those employees are Ecuadorians. The Asylum Access team in Tanzania has been advocating to get a law passed to enable some of the 150,000 refugees from Burundi and the Congo to work legally. Many of the refugees we speak with desperately want to work to both provide for their families as well as to feel as if they have a larger purpose in life. Allowing refugees to work helps not only refugees, but the societies that host them as well.
